More news on Ammannet

I wrote a piece for WorldChanging a few weeks back about Daoud Kuttab, an amazing Palestinian journalist who founded AmmanNet, an Internet radio station in Jordan that covers local and regional news. Xeni at Boing Boing reports that Ammannet has just received authorization to broadcast as an FM station, and he expects to have the station up and running this spring. While the license doesn’t explicitly contain news reporting, Daoud evidently feels his reporters will be able to do some of their important work under the heading of “cultural” reporting. Daoud will be visiting Berkman in late January – I’m looking forward to talking with him then and learning more about this development – I’ll post more when I know more.
